The House passed its Fiscal Year 2015 Transportation-HUD appropriations bill on Tuesday, allocating nearly $41 billion to highways and $10.5 billion to transit, including $8.6 billion for formula grants and $1.7 billion for capital investment grants. The funding maintains FY2014 levels.
For aviation, the bill fully funds the Airport Improvement Program at the authorized level of $3.35 billion, and maintains FAA facilities and equipment at $2.6 billion. In order to meet lower overall budget totals, the legislation cuts TIGER multimodal grants from $600 million to $100 million, and reduces Amtrak funding from $1.4 billion to $1.2 billion, a $200 million reduction for capital improvements and debt service.
In the coming weeks, the Senate will consider its version of the bill, which calls for $2.4 billion more in funding than the House version.
