The House is scheduled to vote Thursday on ACEC-backed energy initiatives that would modernize energy infrastructure and expand the development of new energy sources.
The American Energy Solutions for Lower Costs and More American Jobs Act includes a number of measures that have previously cleared the House, including legislation to facilitate approval of the Keystone XL pipeline, streamline the permitting process for cross-border oil and natural gas pipelines and electric transmission lines, and shorten the permitting and approval process for natural gas pipelines and exports of U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG).
While the vote is largely symbolic—the Senate is not expected to take up these initiatives this year—House leaders want to put lawmakers on record on key energy issues before they return home for election season.
