Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) said over the weekend that “a big highway bill” is an area for bi-partisan cooperation with President Obama in 2015.

House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI), who may be the next chairman of the tax-writing Ways & Means Committee, added on Tuesday that he sees “a lot of merit” in addressing transportation funding shortfalls in the context of comprehensive tax reform.

Last week, Senator Roy Blunt (R-MO) visited ACEC headquarters with a similar message that transportation funding is in the cards for a post-election "lame duck" session.

“Failure to act would miss a big opportunity and lead to another self-imposed funding crisis, undermining vital progress,” said ACEC President Dave Raymond, who added that ACEC's lobbyist are going all out on this issue.
