A new report asserts that "diminished water supply is the greatest threat to the economic security and social stability of major portions of this country."

The report, by the Johnson Foundation at Wingspread lays out the problems with the nation's water supply systems, including aging, leaky infrastructure and inefficient use, and offers a series of recommendations, such as transitioning to next-generation wastewater systems and developing new sources of investment capital.

"Tackling our water infrastructure challenges presents an opportunity for future economic growth and an overall better quality of life for all of us," said Johnson Foundation Director of Environment Programs Lynn Broadus.
