The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has provided more than $4 million in grants to five states for projects using innovative methods to repair and build roads and bridges faster and more efficiently.
Projects in Alabama, Iowa and Washington will focus on speeding up the bridge replacement and repair process; in Vermont, the grant will assist in developing state-of-the-art traveler information services for the public; and Oklahoma will use the funds to buy and apply high friction surface treatments on interstates in Oklahoma City.
Additional grants will be announced in coming weeks.
