The Senate Appropriations Subcommittee for Transportation, Housing & Urban Development approved a draft Fiscal Year 2015 spending bill Tuesday that increases total transportation funding by $536 million.

Highways would receive nearly $41 billion, consistent with current levels and contingent on a reauthorization or extension of MAP-21. Transit programs are funded at $11.1 billion, including $8.6 billion for formula grants and $2.16 billion for capital investment grants, an increase of $220 million for new projects.

The bill fully funds the Airport Improvement Program at the authorized level of $3.35 billion, and increases FAA facilities and equipment by $130 million to $2.61 billion. TIGER multimodal grants are decreased from $600 million to $550 million, and Amtrak funding is maintained at the FY14 level of $1.4 billion.

The bill is scheduled to be considered by the full Senate Appropriations Committee on Thursday.
